Ram's Cafe

I think democracies, in general, get the kind of governments the people deserve. I say 'in general' because what is generally meant by 'democracy' is the government elected based just on a simple majority –  and not on a proportional representation – but that is a column for another time.

There were some people who had this faint hope that perhaps the people who were killed in the Mumbai terrorist attacks did not die in vain after all.

Was the Moon Impact Probe (MIP), which was one of the payloads on India's succesfful lunar mission an afterthought and somewhat unnecessary? That seems to be the thrust of this article in Frontline.The article says,

After a long hiatus, I decided to restart Ram's Cafe - but this time with a slightly different focus - mostly on Asia and, particularly, India. Since the site was largely inactive for several months, I think the earlier visitors would have dropped out.
